Govt to Govt deals to keep export demand high.

I think this news is a good news for the government, farmers and Thai people because next year there are several countries will imported rices from Thailand.

Next year, Indonesia and Bangladesh will turn to import rices from Thailand again after stop imported since last year.

Bulog, the Indonesian government’s rice import agency has offer to buy 50,000 tonnes from Thailand after Jakarta postpone imported Thai rices since last year.

Porntiva Nakasai, the commerce minister said that prices  will increase from now due to high demand from many countries and under government contract.

Thai government will sell 50,000 tonnes to Indonesian government and Thai gov't has already postponed exporting rices to other countries for a while to make sure that Thailand has enough rices for consumption in domestic.

President of the Thai Rice Exporters Association, Korbsook Iamsuri has said that  “We have to consider our strategy: whether to quote an unreasonably high export price that could cost us orders as importers don’t want to pay such a high price. Farmers will be the poorest group despite the high price and enough supply,”

The US department has predicted that world rice trading will slightly increase from 30.1 millions tonnes to 30.5 tonnes in next year, Global Rice Creation forecast to reach 452.5 million tonnes next year collate to 441.5 million tonnes this year.

The commerce ministry has said that “We hope that white paddy rice supplies will enter the market within two months to create bullish trading and price. If it is delayed for four months, we fear a bearish market,”

Chairman of the millers group in Phichit, Banjong Tangjitwattanakul said that at least 20 - 30% will be lost from deluge.

“The rice price is expected to go up by 10 per cent during the next 10-15 days and will continue to rise in the future due to high demand in the market. Many cereal-crop plantation areas in many countries have been also damaged by natural disasters,” he said.

In my view, it is good for Thailand after flooding. We have enough rices for domestic consumption and have more enough to exported. Thai government and Thai farmers can earn benefits together.

Govt suspends releasing rice stock.

I chose this news because its related to my last page. From my last page I have talked about the cabinet tried to stop sale of rice stockpile because Thailand might not have enough rice for consumption in domestic.

Porntiva Nakasai, the commerce minister has assure that Thailand has enough paddy for consumption in this year and next year.

The commerce minister has created blue flag campaign that reduce prices to help people in Songkhla who were affected by flooding. To help those people, prices will cheaper than normal prices in market 20 - 40%.

The commerce minister has instructed the Foreign Trade Department to postpone exporting rices in stock until assess damaged from flooding completely.

I think this is a good news for Thai people because the commerce ministry assure that we will have enough rices for consumption in domestic. Moreover, for Thai people who live in Songkhla, they can buy goods in cheap prices too.

Cabinet tries to stop sale of rice stockpile.

I chose this topic because it related to my last page.

If the Commerce Ministry broke the Cabinet's command and continues selling off its stockpile to exporters.

The ministry sold about 150,000 tonnes of rice to Chia Meng and HBD Habidah last week. Moreover, the Cabinet told the Commerce Ministry to stop selling rices to exporters because rices will not enough for domestic consumption.

On October 26, the Cabinet's told the Commerce Ministry to stop selling,  but its still selling with a permission from Deputy Prime Minister Trairong Suwankhiri, who is deputy chairman of the National Rice Policy Committee. From doing like this, a rice trader said that it will be caused of problems for the government later.

It is reported that in the government stocks has less than 2 millions after selling 3.16 tonnes between July to October.

From this circumstance, I do not think that we should keep selling rices to exporters because Thailand should not meet situation that we have not enough rice for consumption in domestic, it looks silly because Thailand is one of the biggest rice producers.

Rice prices will increase after flood.

I choose this news for my blog because it is relates to my topic. It is about current situation in Thailand, flood. And about Thai rice.

Due to current situation, flooding destroyed farmland approximately 6.9 milliions rai in Thailand. Vietnam also achieved impact from flooding.

Yanyong Puangrat, Commerce Ministry Permanent Secretary said that flooding destroyed about 120,000 sacks of rices in the government stocks.

Yanyong Puangrat said that he expected farmers to make 22 - 24 millions tons but flooding has destroyed farmland and decrease output approximately 2 - 3 million tons.

From this situation, I think the government should plan best how to manage all of output that Thailand has because if not Thailand will meet the situation that can not export as the government want and in domestic has not enough rice for consumption.

Benefits and disadvantages from severe flooding in Thailand.

I think everyone does not like disasters, but look in positive way, we can earn more benefits from it even it was just a short term.

Many foreigner importers have attend about severe flood in Thailand and many purchasers have load shipment in recent week.

Thai rice current situation is much more active than first period of this year because from severe flooding in Thailand others countries have load shipment in recent week. Normally, other countries are keep away from this period because it might be stuck at their ports over the long Christmas.

Mrs. Korbsook, president of the Thai Rice Exporters Association has predicted that next year in Thailand might get shortfall of rice because of severe flooding in this year.Although Thailand exporters can make benefits from this circumstances but exporters need stable situation more than volatility situation.

In my opinion, Thai government should plan how to get the most benefits from this situation although it is a short period but if the government has a good plan, I think we can earn benefits more than as it usual.

Thai floods kill 68, destroy crops, threaten economic growth. 1

I had founded news about affecting from flood to harvest.

Thai financial ministry said that "The deluge may cause as much as 20.2 billion baht ($674 million) of damage and pare economic growth in Southeast Asia’s second-biggest economy by 0.2 percentage point this year"

The state agency said that "About 4 million rai (1.6 million acres) of agricultural land has been affected, according to the Office of Agricultural Economics, equivalent to 3 percent of available farmland. The main rice crop, which accounts for about 75 percent of annual output, may shrink 4.3 percent this year"

In this month, South East Asian will meet deluge. From this situation, its killing hundreds of people and affect to farmland in many parts of Thailand.

Due to this situation from the first estimate that Thailand may get 23 millions metric tons will decrease to 22 millions tons. Sugar cane and cassava have a bit destroyed from flood.

In my opinion, Thai government should plan how to get benefits from 22 million tons and plan how to help farmer because from this situation farmer can not earn benefits as they should. In the sense of economy, I think the government should slightly export rice to other countries because shortfall of rice may caused of rice priced increased in the future.
